MUMBAI: The BJP leaders from Maharashtra have alleged that I-T raids in Mumbai to investigate links of companies with the Purti group was a "well planned" move of the Congress led UPA. According to a senior party leader from Mumbai, "to scuttle chances of NitinGadkari's re-election as party president, the Congress engineered raids in Mumbai."
The leader further stated that Gadkari was almost set to be re-elected as national president of the party. But a day before BJP's presidential elections, I-T sleuths conducted several raids in Mumbai to investigate allegations of financial irregularities in the Purti group. Gadkari has been associated with the group and has been allegedly accused of involving into financial irregularities.
"The BJP is with Gadkari. Investigations will reveal that there is no truth in the allegations against Gadkari," the leader said, adding, "The change in leadership will not affect the functioning of the party in the state."
